Just You Two and The Red, White, and Blue

In honor of everything that is red, white and blue, party it up with your sweetie; patriotic style. So grab that paper and find out what events are planned in your area, or be truly Independent and plan your own day. Here are some great and romantic Americana ideas to make sure that this upcoming 4th of July is one for the history books.

Baseball is the great country’s #1 pastime, so why not take each other out to the ball game? With the warm sun, cold beer, and cracker jacks, who knows? Maybe you’ll score yourself your own personal home run?

Spice things up through a classic Americana BBQ with family and friends and some sensual cocktails like:

-Kiss Me Daiquiri
-Sensual Sangria
-White Chocolate Raspberry Goddess

And who could forget about those fireworks! Grab a blanket, a bottle of wine, and each other and feel your own internal flares. It may even encourage you to create some homemade fireworks of your own!

Remembering the Romance of Michael

Do you remember
When we fell in love
We were young…

We are all remembering the love we have for Michael Jackson and the romance of his voice, music and lyrics.

Romance readers, bask not in the sadness, but celebrate the life and song of Michael Jackson by making a tribute mix CD! The UK Telegraph reports that Michael’s songs are dominating sales on iTunes across the world, a sure sign that the public is self-medicating the passing of the King of the Pop with some of his smooth songs.

From his days with the Jackson 5 all the way to the end of his solo career, MJ continuously provided the soundtrack to our love lives, from sorrow to sappiness, infidelity to infatuation. Make a dance-worthy playlist of your favorite sexy tracks, like “Dirty Diana,” about a seductive groupie looking to get a piece of Michael. Or get your first pumping with “Black or White,” which talks about love spanning the racial spectrum.

You could even compile some of Jackson’s more romantic tunes, like “You Are Not Alone,” or “Rock With You” and slip it in the disc changer of your beau’s car for a nice surprise.

The King of Pop may have passed, but his spirit lives on. Keep it alive in your love life, too!

The End of the Friend?

Shia Labeouf and Megan Fox do it explosively. Robert Pattinson and Kristin Stewart do it immortally. And of course, Madonna does it spiritually with her new boy toy Jesus. So, how do you know when someone becomes more than just a friend? Could it be a quick glimpse, a slight touch, or a quiet laugh that crosses the “we’re only friends” boundary? When those tensions are on overload and you’re heart is beating a mile a minute, what can you do to slow down and get focused on if it’s the real deal of just true friend appeal?
According to life123.com friends can often make for the best relationships because of trust, communication, and admiration for the other person. Once you know that it’s more than just friendly flirting going on, find out if the feelings are reciprocated. This way, there’s no unnecessary heartbreak, tears, or empty Ben & Jerry’s containers! If you’re worried about the response, look for some signs that that may be secretly sending you a love invitation! Don’t dismiss their lingering eyes or subtle smirks as nothing. Those flustered cheeks and goofy grins may be a sign that you’re no longer just on the buddy list. So take a cue from “just friend” celebrity experts because maybe that friend has “got what you need.”

The U.S. Open is Fore (!) Lovers

This year’s U.S. Open was one for the history books, with a range of upsets and some of golf’s finest players coming up short (sixth place for the Tiger Woods?!). And who could deny the romantic aspect of the 2009 tourney? NBC Sports reports that Phil Mickelson, who was a fan favorite for the win, hoped to snag the Open win in honor of his wife, who is tragically battling cancer. Though Mickelson only came out with a three-way tie for second place behind winner Lucas Glover, the romantic story of Mickelson’s devotion to his wife and three little girls pulsed through the entire tournament.

Fellow second-placer and hunky Californian Ricky Barnes caused a stir on the golf green during the Open as well, generating loads of buzz about his romantic life. Is this country club cutie single? Unfortunately, single women everywhere will be a little heartbroken to know that Barnes is rumored to be dating blonde beach-volleyball star Suzanne Stonebarger, who plays pro for the U.S.

Ricky Barnes isn’t the only U.S. Open golfer dating a high profile blondie. Golf’s most famed player and international baby face, Tiger Woods, married Elin Nordegren, a former Swedish model. Woods tied for sixth place in this year’s U.S. Open, a surprisingly low position for the consistent performer. Perhaps he should take some time off to spend with tots Sam and Charlie?

Who's Your Daddy?

Here’s a question for the mothers out there shopping for plaid ties and back scratchers in observance of Fathers Day: is it possible that your husband feels neglected on the Day of the Dad? In a recent Parenting.com post, Geoff Williams discusses how it seems that Fathers Day takes a backseat to its counterpart, Mothers Day. While moms everywhere typically are showered in flowers and pampered on their hard-earned 24 hour celebration, dads often get the short end of the stick, with a half-hearted Fathers Day tie to add to the rack.

With Father’s Day this weekend, it’s time to consider how to make your husband’s holiday more special than ever. It is, of course, important to celebrate your own father, but this year, don’t forget your hubby and the important role that he plays in your children’s lives. Your guy might appreciate a hand-made card and some parenting praise just like any mom would. Or better yet, wake him up with an appreciative gesture that he won’t forget! After all, what could be more romantic than spoiling your one-and-only?

Get Over It!

What can we learn from former flings Chris Brown and Rhianna? Sometimes the best and only medicine for heartbreak is time. Seen at Game 5 of the NBA finals in Orlando on Sunday with a girl who looked surprisingly like his ex Rhianna, it seems that Chris Brown hasn’t taken the much needed time to detach from his previous relationship.
So other than time, (and not dating a look-a-like) how can you mend a broken heart? According to Articlebase.com, it’s best to try to eliminate any leftover or harsh feelings before moving onto a new squeeze. Unsure if your head and heart are over you ex? Answer these following questions:

1) Do you only think of your ex occasionally?
2) Are you no longer upset when dealing with your ex?
3) Does your ex no longer come up in conversations with your friends?
4) Are the romantic feelings gone?
5) Can you accept that your ex has a new romantic interest?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, congrats! You’re on your way to taking another leap at love! For a complete list of tips to know if your heart is healed check out Ezinearticles.com

Play Together, Stay Together

The official first day of summer is a a week and a half away...
do you hear the blue skies beckoning you to come outside and play?

Have you been staring longingly at that Speedo or teeny weeny bikini tucked away in your top drawer?

Summertime sometimes sparks the desire to tone up and there’s no better way to get fit than alongside your significant other.
According to ChrisFitnessWeb.com, active couples win in life and love. Not only does working out together provide prime bonding time, but significant others make great motivators. Try jogging or roller blading, or test out sports made for two, like tandem bicycling or tennis. As an added perk, think of the money you’ll save on your fitness date: all you’ll be spending is calories!

Top off your active evening with a flick about sporty romances, such as Wimbledon or Match Point. In these two tennis films, love is worth anything but zero.
