Study Says Love Lasts Long Term!

According to a new survey to be published in the March issue of the Review of General Psychology, researchers found that romance remains long term in many relationships.

By examining surveys of more than 6,000 people, including some in newly-formed pairs and many in marriages of more than 20 years, researchers found that a surprisingly high number of people were still very much in love with their long-term partners.

Researchers did draw a distinction between romantic love, which can endure, and passionate or obsessive love, which often fades after the beginning of a relationship.

What’s the secret? The research shows it is old fashion hard work.

Are You “Ecosexual”?

Do you bring your own canvas bags to the supermarket?
How about eat organic more than you eat out?
You could be “ecosexual”!

PlanetGreen.com defines an “ecosexual” as someone who is “green” both in and out of the bedroom and wants their partner to be too. So, if you want your dates to be as sweet to your planet as you are to your sweetheart, check out these tips:

  • Pick a place close to home, grab your honey’s hand and take a stroll. This doesn't leave a carbon-footprint or contribute to air pollution and it’s more personal time you get to spend with your date.

  • Make the environment part of your date! Relax at your local park, have a picnic for two or just sit in your backyard. Who knows...all that fresh air may lead to some fresh and frisky fun after your date too!

  • Recreate a restaurant quality meal in your home! Make a unique dinner together featuring yummy, organic recipes . Switch off the lights and use organic soy candles for a romantic vibe.

  • Skip the store-bought bouquets and buy some from a local nursery, or better yet pick your own!

Lovers’ Lyrics Revealed

Should you say “I love you” every day?
Does absence really make the heart grow fonder?
Is the way to a man’s heart, really through his stomach?
Do you find yourself cringing or embracing love’s longtime sayings?
Real Simple magazine rallied its experts and took a good hard look at love’s favorite sayings…and they didn’t always agree!

Here’s a preview of how the experts analyzed, “there is such a thing as love at first sight”:

  • Ellen Wachtel, couples therapist: False. Often it takes time for love to develop. For some people, physical chemistry plays such a big role at the outset that it is mistaken for love.

  • Pepper Schwartz, sociologist: It's a romantic story when it works out, but you don't hear about the relationships that end badly. Relationships start slow and build; they aren't necessarily wonderful from the start.

Check out the rest of the experts thoughts on the traditional tried and true thoughts on love and see how your thoughts compare with the experts!
You may even stumble upon expert tips on the best way to bring some of the classic sayings to your relationship.

Let's Get Physical!

Still working away at those happier/healthier New Year’s resolutions?
Get ready to get in bed!
According to Drs. Mehmet Oz and Michael Roizen, authors of You: Being Beautiful, men who have sex three times a week can decrease their risk of heart attack and stroke by 50 percent, while women who enjoy sex tend to live longer than those who don't.
So, grab your sweetheart and get under those covers!
Check out the doctors’ claim on Good Morning America this morning and learn more about why you and your honey should be getting it on as much as possible.
Additional sexy stats from Drs. Oz and Roizen:

  • Great sex makes your body feel and be the equivalent of two to eight years younger—same for men who have 150 to 350 orgasms a year, compared to the average of once per week.

  • Increasing sex from once a month to once a week, according to researchers, is the happiness equivalent of an additional $50,000 in income for the typical American.

So turn down the lights, light some candles and get your grove on… we’ll consider it spring training!

Well how about spicing up the annual closet binge and include revving up romance in your annual clean out?

Check out these tips from The Oklahoman on how to bring a little sexy into your rooms.

My favorite tips include:
  • Place photos of you and your loved one – kissing, embracing or holding hands- around your home in crystal or glass frames to remind you of romantic times.
  • Keep treats on hand or display them in a beautiful covered crystal cake plate.
  • Use candle scents like vanilla or chocolate to set the mood.

So finish the dusting and the vacuuming and put down the broom to take a little time to figure out where you can integrate sexy in your nest to sweep your sweetie of their feet.

Engagement Frosty Fiasco

On the night he was going to propose to his girlfriend, instead of marriage, Reed Harris found himself proposing a trip to the local hospital for X-rays to his girlfriend, Kaitlin Whipple.
You could call it a gulp in Reed’s plans – Kaitlin’s engagement ring slipped into her stomach rather than onto her finger while the couple was at Wendy’s finishing frosties with friends. Reed had hid the ring in Kaitlin’s frosty and, after a friend challenged Kaitlin to who could finish their frosty first, Reed’s diamond was nowhere to be found.
After a trip to the hospital, Reed found himself on one knee proposing with only to give Kaitlin a photo of what her ring would look like – the x-ray of the ring sitting in her stomach.
Check out Reed and Kaitlin’s complete engagement adventure and their spot on NBC’s Today Show!
And don’t try this at home!
